Interesting Charts

Early technical signs that equity markets have reached a
short term peak!

· Short term momentum indicators on the NASDAQ Composite
Index have rolled over (Stochastics dropping below 80%, RSI
falling below 70%, MACD rolling over from an overbought
level)

· The VIX Index continues to spike.

· Percent of S&P 500 stocks trading above their 50 day
moving average has started to trend down and has slipped
below the 80% level.

· European equity markets are weaker than North American
equity markets.

Gold equities and their related ETFs are showing encouraging
technical signs on both sides of the border as they approach
their period of seasonal strength.

Technical Action by Individual Equities
Yesterday

Technical action by S&P 500 stocks was surprisingly quiet
given weakness in the Index. Four S&P 500 stocks broke
resistance (Avalonbay, Colgate, Procter & Gamble and
Baxter International) and three stocks broke support (Peabody
Coal, Morgan Stanley and Mosaic).

Among TSX 60 stocks, Catamaran broke support.
