Dear Simon,

I was practicing my prospecting scripts today and thought I should ask you about phone messages.

J.G.

Dear J.G.,

I do not leave telephone messages unless I have a solid working relationship with the person … if you are at the prospect stage with the person and you don’t really have rapport with them yet, you run the risk of becoming one of the 1000 interruptions that the person has during their day and they can easily write you off twice … when you leave the message and when they see your number come up on their call display.

It is great that you are working the phones … make sure that you continue to ask your centers of influence for introductions to their associates, family and friends … while this may be a challenging time … your time can be invested to research contacts that you can talk with again and again.
